Tokyo Dome City Landscape Renewal

Infrastructure – Landscape

A landscape renewal project for the entire Tokyo Dome City area. To create a continuous sense of liveliness as part of the city, the previously closed-off area was opened up. Vivid colors were used in the ground design to guide people, and new shops and furniture were placed throughout to create enjoyable and connected pathways. The new shops, reflecting the nature of this location where conditions change daily due to events, were designed as lightweight, temporary structures based on vehicle-like units. By making use of the limitations imposed by existing structures and facilities, various forms and sizes of furniture, as well as steps that combine stairs and benches, were incorporated into the landscape. This creates opportunities for visitors to engage in different ways and connects the spaces of activity. Additionally, various digital signages were installed. These visualize information and the atmosphere of the area, previously vague, through ever-changing visual expressions, expanding the time and space for visitors and transforming the site into a new part of the city.
