Takeshiba District Development Project Residential Building (B-block)

A residential tower under construction in the Takeshiba district. Surrounded by the sea at Takeshiba Pier, and the vegetation of Hama-rikyu Gardens and Former Shiba-rikyu Gardens, its development is presently underway as a unit with the Business Building (A-block). In this district, Takeshiba Pier facing Tokyo Bay, which serves as a seaport is connected by a monorail (via Hamamatsucho Station) to Tokyo International Airport (known as Haneda Airport), thus providing access via both sea and air. This project aims to create a vibrant venue where people with diverse values interchange through further revitalisation of the Takeshiba district which is a gateway to the world. The design concept of the cladding is "Creative Sail" with a sail motif that fits well with this location. For the interior of the communal area where residents' trafficlines intersect, a space with varying expressions throughout the day is designed through the use of light and a sense of scale by showcasing lighting devices such as an impressive pendant luminaire suspended from the ceiling. Based on the landscape concept "Coral reef garden plaza", colourful planted zones are allocated in a curvilinear orientation for the concourse which directly connects to Takeshiba Station. The provision of benches also encourages diverse use such as for outdoor meetings, with the aim of creating a spontaneous environment as in the interior.
